Cooling mornings, flowers covered in dew
Breath coming out in mist as you walk
Energetic dog racing ahead on the trail
Squirrels gathering and storing winter supplies
Deer grazing in yonder meadow
Rustling in the bushes of fox scurrying away
Blue Jay scolding from tree branch up high
Brown hawk circling circling above
Old Mrs. Jones gathering wood in her arms
Still does her cooking on wood burning stove
Old Mr. Jones waves from rocker on porch
Cooling weather slowing his ancient joints
Dog sees a possum ahead on the path
Barking loudly he starts in to chase
Possum too dumb to pay dog any heed
Without encouragement bored dog runs on

Dog tiring from his morning outing
You and dog head home, it's breakfast time
