sunflowers and asters, nasturtiums,
chrysanthemums of gold,wine red and white,
the red and white begonias in their last hurrah,
geraniums straining out of their pots,
the grass at its greenest, thick and lush,
maple trees looking like they're on fire
Autumn dogwood vines with red berries
yellow finches turning winter brown
and feeding on the thistle seeds
green peppers still growing on the plants
last of red tomatoes waiting to be picked
purple eggplants still hanging by their stems
red peppers picked for roasting
Autumn world full of color, shapes, sizes
sunshiny days,
great to be outside
clear, crisp, cool nights
great to be under the covers
all these are to me
happy autumn things
